Rebecca Tisdelle picked up her first camera at the age of 7 and continued filling shoeboxes with strips of film until she bought her first Nikon DSLR. Learning to shoot in Brampton, she moved to Toronto in 2003 and has lived there ever since. Working as a freelance artist and photographer for the past nine years, she is comfortable in intimate environments photographing a child being born, covering sold out concerts from Classical to Rock or on the red carpet of the latest Gala shooting Toronto's best and brightest.

Jonathan Macias brought a camera with him while on tour with his band in 2008 and began shooting live music, events and documenting various aspects of street culture - from skateboarding to graffiti artists to breakdancing.

Teaming Rebecca's unique portraiture style with Jonathan's photojournalistic approach, they founded Black Umbrella Photography in order to provide an alternative to traditional Wedding Photography, Event Coverage, Birth Documentation and Family Sessions.
